near miss - close call

8/9/24 4:00 pm at I-5 and I-205 interchange Washington State. Truck pulling camper has a near miss by pulling in front of a semi truck and trailer at speed. Non accident but I'd call this a close call or near miss.

I believe this can be a cause of why a driver may take unsafe risks to pass a trucker. I think the truck in the lead has a new driver. We've all been there and had to learn sometime. Including me. We have to move our 10,000 Gallon above ground septic tanks. If you've never seen it, it's not easy, or cheap. Just moving from one location, to another. Cat walks had to come off for height. And then a huge wrecker truck to load it onto a low boy flat bed trailer.

Speed limit is 40, but someone was tired of that. But down the road, driver got stuck at a light. All that was for nothing.

Client flushing grease and oil down the kitchen sink and destroyed their septic system. No matter how much hot water you chase to keep the lines between the kitchen sink and the septic tank, it will destroy the contents of the septic tank. Just don't do it. Put grease and oil in a tin can and throw it out with the garbage. Save your septic system.

I love these homeowner repair installs. They think of everything including recycling. As you flush the toilets and run showers and laundry, the septic system replenishes the well. This is Revolutionary. Why didn't we think of this. Ha ha ha Complete system replacement.

It's not legal. I ride a (slow) motorcycle, and intersections can be dangerous, especially ones with yield entrances like that one. My assumption is he wanted to get around and get moving, if only to keep cars off his back and stay out of someone's blind spot, which again, intersections like that are bad to create. Much respect to you though sir. Those big trucks take a skill all their own!

Id send a camera along the length of the pipe and see what the damage is. Most of the time the damage isnt the infiltrator. I have the luxury of burying the ones I do 2 ft deep sometimes deeper. They have a sturdier tunnel system if you go that deep. Shallow fields always are sitting ducks for damage.
We're required to bury them shallow here. If buried too deep, you'll have to relocate the drainfield elsewhere on the property. Inspectors are super strict about that. All lines, entire lengths were destroyed All new plastic.
I worked for micropump. Idex company here in Vancouver. We made all the components for Gast pumps. Interesting to see one in action.

Sorry to say but it's always your responsibility to check your mirrors when turning. You have no idea if your blinker at the back is working and they may have assumed you were pulling over to the right. I'd actually say good driving by both, they clearly slowed down and gave you plenty of space when it was clear where you were going, but one should never assume that blinkers are enough
that car was going too fast for a residential area. There was no reason to tailgate the bigger car and assume you will have the right of way to pass them just because it is slowed down. Aaand that is not a passing zone for their lane. That car is 100% stupid.
I did check my mirror. That's how I avoided hitting the car.
@@funniest_shit_ever You can see from the camera he's going at 6mph, the limit is 60mph in that area, it seems perfectly reasonable to try and go around a vehicle going at walking pace on a main road. It isn't a 'residential area' just because there are a couple of houses and state law clearly says you can pass in a no passing zone if the vehicle is moving excessively slowly, such as a bicycle (which would be travelling far faster than 6mph) You MUST check when turning left.
@@firstcallseptic1 Oh I agree, good driving from both parties here, but my point is that some seemed to think either party was at fault, i disagree as it's reasonable to think that you were pulling over given the speed and location if they didn't see a blinker for any reason.

Thank goodness I drive with my head on a swivel. I don't know why this driver attempted to pass me in a no passing lane, along with my turn signals running indicating I was making a left turn. You can use this, no problem. Please site me as your source.

Great information to share and very important to know if you are a homeowner with a septic system! I have already concluded that from here out, I'm going to be using 'disposable' brushes and rollers - not necessarily traditional cheap throw-aways, but maybe a compromise of budget/quality. When you consider the relative cost of paint vs the applicators, even if you use moderate quality you can strike a nice balance on results vs investment.
